मधुकांत के कहानी संग्रह का अंग्रेजी अनुवाद
Preface
I know that writing does not suit my family and community at large. It was utterly a materialistic environment of businessmen and traders where I was born and brought up. They had never attached any importance to writing. It seems that I was sent here by mistake of under God's special plan to serve literature and writing. I wonder how I was consecrated with literature in the family of professionals. I found that there was not a single example of a person interested in reading and writing in my forefathers. Being emotional, introvert and moderate in speech, I expressed my suppressed emotions on papers. Thus how Anoop Kumar Bansal, born in a family of Seth Kanthumal (Sampla, Distt. Rohtak) became Madhukant.
I started writing romantic poems, then a novel and around 1980 wrote stories and small-Stories (Laghukathas). After one or two years Tarkash (a Collection of Laghukathas in Hindi) was published. It was welcomed both by critics and readers. Since then, the process of writing Laghukathas is going on.
Instead of translating his own mini-stories, Harnam Sharma decided to choose and translate these Laghukathas in English. He himself is a poet and mini-story writer. I am grateful to him and Dr. Amrit lal Madan also who was kind enough to write foreward of 'Empty Frame' and provided wings to my creativity.
